desktop icons gone

Icons disappeared from desktop. restart dont help. How do I get them back?

seriously... what os?
xp- run a system restore to a few days back
ME- same thing
98,95 -hit f8 on boot to get the menu, select dos
type scanreg/restore on the prompt... choose a few days back.

I recommend right clicking on the Desktop, Arrange Icons By, 'Show Desktop Items'.

hi guyz
l have same problem as mombo323...my laptop runs on XP Proffessional 2002 SP2...l have tried system restore(using "using a application file in system32,cause the system restore tab under System properties isn't there anymore) and it says that "the system restore has been turned off cause of group policy.to turn system restore on,contact domain administrator"

wat do l do...pliz help
