in the last week my pc has froze once & lost power twice!
all 3 occured when playing bf2... Now the 1st freeze was interpreted as bf2 bug, however the two power failures, i mean the pc just shuts off immediately, gave me cause for concern.
Ive ordered a new psu model as it has a history of this. & was in the market for a upgrade anyway.
Anyhow is there anyway to use that event viewer thing to check what happened exactly?
Oh i monitored temps as well nothing to worry about there (35-46max). I will be giving my system a good clean as its getting a little dusty inside what with the 4 case fans.
Also spyware/virus scans were run & clean. |

What powersupply do you have now, and what one did you order? |

Ya, the original Hiper PSU's were junk compaired to the Hiper Type-R(atleast that is what all the reviews/people I have talked to say)...why don't you just wait on this problem untill you get a new psu...because we could have you try a bunch of different things just to find out it was only your power supply in the end...
I don't know of any way to find out exactly what happened...
What do you use to scan for viruses/spyware? |

I would go with the PSU being problem, had a look at some of the reviews for it and they aren't great: Quote: |
The PSU quickly passed the cross-load test at all allowable loads, but refused to sustain a load of 300W and higher for more than 3-4 minutes – the protection circuit would intervene. My attempts to squeeze this output power by varying the distribution of the loads on the different rails failed and… what’s this smell? My patience ran out sooner than the combustible materials in the PSU, so it was still alive when I shut it down – if you could call that “alive”. More exactly, I just didn’t turn it on again when it had automatically shut down at the fool load.

Sounds like your problem, I think the 6600 GT just needs more power than your PSU can supply

Don't under estimate dust bunnies making your computer run wiggy. The first sign is shutdown. Those dust bunnies make a processor run really hot and shut down is a safety measure. Also, while it's running hot, all sorts of other things can be happening. Often, you can't see how much dust is collecting in the heatsink.
