    XP install problems ( @ reboot )

I'm trying to install XP on an older computer that I bought at a garage sale for ten bucks..it has a celeron processer ( mmx cpu@266mhz ) and i have the boot order set @ CDROM, C, A ....My Primary Master is my CD ROM ( and i'm unsure this is the correct way of doing it )...there's some info on the bottom left screen that reads :
I 440LX-ITE-2A69JL1AC-00 ( also, being the novice I am I'm hoping that info is helpful to those who know what the #%$ is going on )...

Here's my problem, the installation seems to be going fine UNTIL the system needs to reboot...when it does reboot it starts the install at the beginning and doesn't pick back up where it should to complete...

I formatted my hard drive ( Western Digital 120 GIG ) with the NTFS system and i'm also wondering if that's the best way to go...I do have the disc to the hard drive and can change the system to FAT16/FAT32 if needed.

    WHAT'S GOING ON ?????
    Thanks !
    Bill

It sounds like the CD rom is booting the system again on the reboot. Usually there is a message something like "If you want to boot from CD press any key", and if you don't press a key, the system will try to boot from the hard drive.

    Using NTFS should be fine.

"I 440LX-ITE-2A69JL1AC-00" I believe this is the CD rom drive device information.

When you have the BIOS set to Boot from CD, start the install.
Then as it's rebooting for the 1st time you must enter the BIOS
again & switch to Boot from HDD.
After that, windows will finish installing properly.
    Otherwise ... endless loop.

    I second that notion.
    Patience takes too long.
