    Unhappy problems installing office 2003

    PLease can someone help!

I am trying to install a valid professional Office 2003 copy and I get the message "invalid product key." I already have Office 2000 installed. Do I need to remove it? I am rather afraid to remove it because maybe I won't be able to reinstall it either. And then I will be without any office product. I use the Word quite a bit and don't want to be without it.
Also, the first time I tried to install the Professional Office 2003, the key was accepted. However, I had some conflicts, so I removed it and tried to reinstall it. This is when I got the message that the key was invalid. A friend of mine tried it on his computer and the key was accepted. What is my problem! The cd is a legal copy from a University where my son attends.
Thanks for any help that anyone can give.

    Must be a common problem.

A few Google search results revealed people needing to try the key close to 10 times before it will be accepted.

I still need help. I've tried over and over many many times to install the office 2003 and the key will still not work. I even removed my old office 2000 and that did not work either.
Thanks ahead of time to anyone who can help.

If your friend installed your copy on his computer, and activated it, you are going to get grief from Microsoft whenever you finally get yours loaded on your machine anyway.

I would suggest calling Microsoft. If you've only ever installed it on the one machine (besides your friends), they should help you out.
If you don't volunteer don't bitch!
