Requesting virus scan

Everytime I open an office document like Word or Excel, at the bottom left, it says "Requesting Virus Scan". Can I get rid of this virus scan.

What anti-virus program are you running? I suspect you have it set to scan your incoming documents.

I didn't find it in the set up of my anitivirus, Norton Antivirus 2006.

Try looking in Norton Antivirus Options/Miscellaneous for a plug-in section. If it's there, you can remove the check from the Office plug-in option to stop the automatic document scanning.

I have never seen that before...but it could be because I don't use that POS Norton...
