Removing Norton Anti-Virus

Hi There,

My Norton trial version is up, and my Comcast comes with mcafee so I'd like to remove my norton before I install the mcafee. I start up norton but they have seen fit to include no way of removing it. Thank you Symantec! So, I take it I have to do this in add/remove programs, right? If this is correct, the problem is, there are 3 programs there (LiveReg, LiveUpdate 2.5, & Norton AntiVirus 2005). Is there a certain order I should remove them in or how should I go about doing this? Seems like every 2 seconds I'm getting a popup that says it's time to purchase my norton. It's gotta go...Please help! Thanks!

Norton won't let you uninstall it in the wrong order...start with NAV 2005, then hit the other two. Don't forget to manually search your registry for Norton and Symantec entries and remove them.

McAfee isn't much better.

Yes, by all means consider me a member of the I Hate Norton Club! About mcafee, I'm gettin' it for free, is it even worth using or should I really spend a few bucks? What are you guys using?

Read the first post in that Anti-Norton thread...I use Sygate Personal Firewall, Avast Antivirus, and Microsoft Anti-Spyware.

Yes, Thanks. Been off reading that thread. Laughs and info. Good combo. I'll use those, skip the mcafee. Free crap is still crap! Thanks a lot!

5 min...that is a loooong time...but it was probably closer to 15 with norton installed! But still...you might want to look at cleaning some stuff up in there...

I have heard good things about Crap Cleaner, and you should try HijackThis.
