Can any one please help, i have just built a computer, using a New case, a new Mother board and CPU, new 521 MB of DDR RAM, and my old hard drive and writers.
I have powered up and the CPU fan and PSU fan are working, but nothing else is happening.
There is a message on the monitor saying no signal is being recieved, and then that goes off after a short while, leaving a black screen.
Could any one advise me what i should try next to find the fault
The mother board is a ASROCK K7S41GX, and the CPU is an AMD Sempron 2.6 GHz.
Thanks in advance, Fagin. |

ok.....so...to start off. do you have a graphics card? If so, how is it hooked up and how is your monitor hooked up. Is there integrated video. Do you get a bios beep on startup (should be one short beep if your mobo has a built in speaker). Also...have you tried reseating everything? If not, try taking each part completely out and putting it back in making sure it's done correctly. Try reconnecting all cables (especially power!) make sure you have some thermal paste or a thermal pad between your heatsink and processor. Not too much though. You want to make sure you only have about half a grain of rice on that processor (i think). Basically you just want a thin lair on the core without getting it on the actual electronic part! |

Thanks sr7100
I have taken your advice and reseated everything, i checked everything first and everything looked as though it was connected,se but i did reat everything and it is now working ok.
The computer has on board Grahics, so i dont understand the " No signal" message, i would have thought that if the fans were working, power wqas getting to the Motherboard, and therefore the monitor should have been getting a signal.
Could you tell me if i am correct in assuming that?
And thanks again for your previous advice. |
