| reboot after windows xp load screen! cd rom problem too!
COMP REBOOTS AT XP LOADING SCREEN!
CD ROM PROBLEM TOO! CRIES
I've been to 5 forums all which ran out of suggestions or didnt bother to look.
This is what happened:
I did a scan with ewido and found 40069 infections and so i left my comp on night to clear infections.
When i woke up, the ocmp was normal and infections cleared. Then the warning cam eup.
Ewido anti malware: security suite is corrupt ....
something along those lines. Then the comp started freezing and anythign i double clicked did not open. ctrl alt del didnt even work.
So i rebooted!
THe windows xp load was loading but it didnt end!! so i rebooted over and over! still. Then!!! when it got to the xp load screen it would just reboot suddenly no blue screen or anything.
I tried safe mode! it loaded prohlp32.sys i think then in the middle it loaded a34bus.sys and after it loaded it rebooted!!!
doing tht ever since!!! but now! my cd rom wont work!!! my cd romw as working when it was rebooting but when i took it out to get to my hardrive. Problem occured.
a cd rom to be functional to a computer must be connected to a powersupply AND the mainboard.
My ND-2510A connected ONLY to the power supply turns on!!! success! BUT once i connect it ALSO to the mainboard with the 39 pin cable. it goes off!!!! strange i thought my conclusion comes to motherboard drivers? or cd rom drivers?
however i dont need a replacement cd rom because it works on this computer.
meaning this might be a motherboard problem ?? which i hope u could expand on?
Which leads me to tell you I connected ANOTHER WORKING cd rom to the comp which i never connected to the comp b4. Like i said before, it is on etc with just the power supply. but connected ALSO to the main board THIS TIME THIS CD ROM REMAINS LONG TIME on the start page with del to enter setup.
DETECTING IDE DEVICES'
meaning the motherboard problem?
When i have my nd2510a plugged and i set bios to cd rom i get the error:
DISK BOOT FAILURE..INSERT SYSTEM DISK........something
Can u guys plz help been tryign to fix 4 days. I didnt know where to post this. As a problem of the windows and the problem of the cd drive. |

can you boot into safe mode? Quote: with that many infections, i wouldnt even bother fighting anymore and just wipe the drive and start over. |

Ditto. You need to do a fresh install of the OS.
A CD rom is an ATAPI device for Windows. Normally you don't need "drivers" unless for special things, like 52x speed, etc.
Reasons why a CD-ROM drive won't work:
1. Hardware failure. Solution: buy a new drive, it doesn't cost so much.
2. The drive's data cable or power cable (inside the case of your PC) is not well connected. Solution: open the case and check the cables (you do it at your own risk, of course).
3. BIOS misconfiguration (make sure CD-ROM is set to "first boot device")
4. The drive's jumpers are set incorrectly (e.g., to "master" when "slave" should be selected, etc.) |

how can it be a hardware failure if the cd rom works on this comp. How come the cd rom on this comp wont work on tht comp. It stays at detecting ide devices which could lead to something???
i tried cables which is not the problem
bios is set right.
could be the jumpers whtever they are? can u give me instructions?
Also some more info:
when it says primary slave etc they all say : None |

there is a lable on the top of the cd drive that shows you the jumper to use.
if the cd drive is the only device on a ide port, then you want it set for master.
if you have the drive connected to the same cable as the hard drive, then you want the jumper set to slave, when using a 40 conductor ribbon cable.
if your hard drive uses a 80 conductor ribbion cable then the hard drive and the cd drive must be set to cable select with the jumpers.
on the other problem, I would recommend a full format of the hard drive and reinstall windows and then install the drivers for the motherboard if you have the cd for it.
then after that install any and all service packe and updates you need.
after all that is done, then you can install your applications software, also include
spybot, adaware, and AVG virous software, which is all free. |

Sorry i am a noob with computers. On the label of the cd rom, it has I/o bus which is the 40 pin cable area.
Then the slave - master and then slave which has 123. So tell me wht i should conect and wht wires i need.
My hardrive is using irregular ones. The cable which links it up to the power supply, the cable has an end tht looks like this:
_______
!
ther cable conecting it to themotherboard looks like this too both sides.
Also when i starup my comp it says:
Primary master: None
Primary slave: None
Secondary master: none
Secondary slave: none
shouldnt there be a hardrive??? or a cd rom?
any further instructions? |

I still say, do a fresh install of the OS, that is, if every was working fine until you got all those infections. Please back up all data first!! |
