problem with my optical drive

i have a Pioneer 110D optical drive that started giving me problems tonight...when i put in a disc...either blank or written...or comercially made all it does is the power light flashes a few times on the drive and thats it. if i explore the drive with media in it...it shows up as an empty drive. i have un-installed in device manager and rebooted thinking it was just an error...still the same...don't think it's a loose cable or jumpers as i've not opened my case in a while and it has always worked fine before. do you think my drive has gone belly up on me???....anybody else had a similar problem with an optical drive.

Try cleaning the lens....

EDIT: with CD-ROM lens cleaner CD...

don't see how that will work since it seems the drive is not spinning up

It *may* work..... However though, if it doesn't.... then, chaces are, you got a broken drive....

another thing i noticed this happened while trying to burn a disc...got an error message to put in a blank dvd....when i clicked o.k....it kicked open the tray...but the same thing over and over...don't think this had anything to do with it though....

guess the drive died on me....put my old Pioneer 107D back in...same connections...same power connector....and it works fine....guess i'll be contacting Pioneer about an 'RMA' for this one....i'll let you all know how that goes
