Installing RAM? troubles

I have an HP Compaq nx9010 notebook computer. i just bought two 512mb modules of ram (pc2700 333mhz ddr) but my computer is only recognizing one of them while both are plugged in. does anyone know why this is?

How old is the notebook? Are you sure you have them seated good?

Try both sticks out, but one at a time in each slot to determine if you have a bad slot or if one of the sticks is bad. Put stick 1 in slot 1 and boot up...then stick 1 in slot 2 and boot up...then stick 2 in slot 1 and boot up...then stick 2 in slot 2 and boot up.
