| Computer powers up, but no video and odd noise
I just put together my first system. I THINK I have everything hooked in correctly, I tried to follow directions as best as I could.
For soem odd reason, my video card wont work(or the mobo refuses to recognize the card) when I have 1GB of memory (512 x 2) installed. When I take one stick out, the system boots fine. It's a pair of Corsair Dual Channel memory.
The video card is an EVGA GeForce 7600GT PCI-Express x16, and the moterboard is an Asus A8N-SLI.

Check out the book that come with your motherboard.. it will have a answer to the code beeps.. it could be anything.. If you are unsure of where to find it in the book.. post the motherboard you put in the computer.. and I'm sure we can find the manual online, and see what it says..

Try reseating the video card and the ram. Then reset the cmos (instuctions in your manual). Then give it another try. |

Your manual will tell you what the beeps mean.
You most likely did not fully seat the RAM or GFX card. Make sure they are snug and all the way in (Can take a little force sometimes...lol) |

Something is defective, whatever your board book says, try reseating the part and see if it keeps happening, if it does, you have a defective piece of hardware....sorry |

New problem.
I got the card to boot, but only with one stick of 512MB instead of 2 x 512.
I tried different combos, but the system only boots properly when one stick of memory is inside.
Whats going on? |

You probably want to run memtest on each piece of ram. What specific model of Corsair do you have? Some require you to set the voltage different from 2.6v default. |

| AFAIK all the value select ram is 2.6v, some of the XMS ram is 2.75v. So you're voltage setting isn't the problem and doesn't need adjusting. |

Do they both work alone? Or does only 1 of the sticks work?
You most likely have a defective stick of ram.
RMA to newegg, or Corsair. |
