Cannot enter BIOS !

In this case have HP 504n machine. I'm self-taught with computers. Have repaired and built a number of them, but this BIOS issue has me stumped. I need to enter the BIOS to disable the CPU Fan Check feature. When I turn on machine get black screen telling me CPU Temp Problem; machine will close down in 5 seconds. And that's exactly what it does. After pressing start button have tried F1 Key or F11 Key or Delete Key, etc but can't get into BIOS. Simply shuts down in 5 seconds. Also have replaced CMOS Battery. Have Cleared the CMOS thru Jumper. I just can't enter the BIOS!!!!

For the record this is a TriGem 2002052 or 20020930 GL_VE Motherboard S/N (S) 310105-S455878.

Maybe I need to reset the BIOS with new/upgraded file. But how would I do that when machine only stays up for 5 seconds? I'm stumped guys/gals. Any help will be sincerely appreciated. Thanks.

Thanks for the prompt reply Steve. Yes, the CPU Fan is working perfectly! I forgot to mention that. The HP Web Documentation shows they've had a problem with this issue. Their suggestion is to disable the Fan Feature in the BIOS. But I can't do that until I can get in there.

Also I've had several messages back and forth with HP's Support Group Power & Associates. I tried all they asked of me, but nothing so far has worked. They finally suggested taking it to a shop. But I would rather do this myself. I'm retired with limited funds, and I have the time.

So I thought a good forum might be the better route. The fellows in these forums, like you, have truly been thru many various issues. For that matter I have too over the years; but just not this issue.

So here we are.

Any ideas, I hope?

Thanks for the input. However, the Model No is HP 504n. And your right it has the samne MB. I had already downloaded the BIOS update file from the 504n page. Unfortunately it's for executing from within Windows XP....and I can't get into the computer at all. Perhaps if I had a BIOS to flash from the A: drive it might just pick that up. But I doubt it. The standard bootup comes before the bios hardware search, and I can't get past the initial black screen!!

Still needing ideas from you guys/gals out there. Thanks.
