| CD insertion causes computer to "lock up"
The title is pretty self explanitory. For some random reason today my CD rom decided not to read a game CD I had in...so I took it out and tried a music CD..and it just freezes my whole comp. The second I hit the eject button it goes back to normal. I put a CD cleaning disk in to try it and it will open Windows Media and read the tracks, but it freezes about 3 seconds later and does the same thing. I dont know what wrong, I assumed the drive was dirty but maybe its dying?
Any ideas? |

It appears my drive wont spin up...I dont see any excuse for this to happen, its not a very old drive. I dont think its even a year old. It told me "Drive D: Is locked by InCD server"
Any ideas?
Im completely lost, it worked fine last night and I had to transport it from house to house for about a week. It worked when I got home last night, I dont see why it would just die today. |

Go to Add/Remove programs and delete "Nero InCD". This add-on software to "Nero Burning" causes this problem. |

I put in a disk and usually like most drives it spins up and auto plays. It doesnt do anything but freeze about 3-5 sec after I put a disk in. Now its forcing me to restart instead of just freezing while the disk is in.
Im out of ideas, I dont see this drive being bad but Im not seeing any other explanations.
Thanks for thinking though, any other takers? |

check your connections at the motherboard and cd-rom

Might help, boot to safe mode and go to device mangler and remove all of your cd drives, then reboot and let windoz reinstall them.

Ill try to reboot in safe mode to remove the drivers, its a plug and play though...it says it doesnt need any special drivers and it worked fine the day before. |
