Quick question about system log

In Event Viewer when i open the system log i have an error message that it is corrupted.

What are the reasons why it's happening.

Did a search on Google but didn't find any answers yet

XP Pro but strange enough, i restarted the computer and in the Evene Viewer the system log is now normal.... i don't know why it became corrupted but if you can extrapolate on it i'll be happy to know what was the reasons of this behavior
