    windows wont boot??

hi--my pc had been fine until today. i turn it on and get a light on the tower and hear the fans but thats all thats happening-no beep or the loading of windows. a friend said that the inclement weather we have had could be the reason(??) and said to re-seat the video card and the ram. tried that and when i turn it on all i get now is one continous beep--with still nothing happening. can any one shed any light on this at all??? any help at all would be greatly appreciated. thanks

    Hi, and welcome to TechIMO!

I'm sorry, but we need a little more information to answer your question. If you could tell us something about the computer like operating system, who made the PC, what kind of hardware is in it we may be able to help.

Remove power from the PC, reseat the CPU again - be sure the heat sink is properly installed and try not to disturb the thermal compound too much, make sure the cpu fan is reconnected - reset the bios. Probably a jumper near the battery, if not carefully remove the onboard 2032 battery for about 15 minutes then reinstall it.

Restore power and try to boot.
