In the last couple days my computer just shuts off for no reason. I've went through all the scans and cleaned everything up and it still is turning itself off. Sometimes it works for a couple hours, sometimes not long at all. PLease help, I'm worried the computer is going to be ruined shuting down wrong.
We need a little more information before we can help.
If you could let us know who made the PC, what operating system, what kind of processor it has, what kind of motherboard, video card, power supply, as much information as you can provide.
Or you can usually go into the BIOS and check your temperatures from there. My money would bet on that it shuts itself down in order to protect itself from buring up. At least it would be a place to start troubleshooting if nothing else.
Check your temps, and then throw em' back up at this site when you get a chance.

My computer does often get very hot, so hot that I can't keep it on my lap without a pillow underneath it. What is BIOS? And how do I access it to check the temperature? If this does turn out to be the problem, what exactly can I do about it?
