display issue, games not running

Ive had this problem for a while, but after burning out my old psu, I replaced it with a 400 watt saga ax400-pn. It worked well, until i hit sleep mode one day, and it came back to having display problems again. I currently have vertical light red lines running on my display and vertical 'tick' marks when xp is booting up.

I took a few months off of gaming before this started to happen, and now I am unable to get my games up and running too. Ive tried to reinstall them, but after I try to boot em up, i either encounter a direct x problem or the game just does not load. Ive reinstalled direct x 9.0c, and no new results. Games in question are any steam game, doom3, cod2, and bia.

420 watt power supply
i865 asus board 8xagp, 800mhz fsb
2.8 p4 w/HT
1024mb dual channel ddr400 ram
gigabite radeon 9800 pro 256mb

It sounds like you are seeing a failing color control on your monitor. Are you running a crt or lcd there? Try reseating your video card checking the connection for that. Your sig shows a Radeon 9800 Pro. Has that seen updates lately?
