| DRIVER_IRQL_NOT_LESS_OR_EQUAL
Good afternoon,
I recently joined this board, and I am hoping I posted my question in the correct place. My daughter has recently moved her (and her PC) to Philadelphia and has hooked into a DSL network in a house she shares with others. She is running XP Professional, and is connected to the internet via a USB wireless connection. She recently has been getting the blue screen of death, something she never received with this PC when it was a wireless connection to a cable based system. This is the message she is receiving:
DRIVER_IRQL_NOT_LESS_OR_EQUAL
STOP:0x000000D1 (0xF9CB6000,0x0000002,0x0000000,0xBA4511CF)
WUSB20xP.SYS -ADDRESS BA4511CF BASE AT BA40F000, DATESTAMP 3ffc825a
Any help you can give us to correct this problem will be greatly appreciated.
Thanks

It looks like maybe sometime in the transport something might have gotten jostled..
If you can tell her to start removing PCI cards from her motherboard (ones that arent directly needed like video card) if she knows how to... Make sure there is no static electricity by grounding to the case as well.. Thats what i would do, but it seems to me like something got messed up in the trip.. You can always see if she can boot into safe mode although i doubt it... Right before the Microsoft Windows XP screen comes up on load hit the F8 key a few times so you can see that menu..
Also if you know what her computer is (make/model) that would be great. Are either of you technically inclined in that you feel comfortable enough about disecting her computer?
Ohh and Welcome To TechIMO, we hope you enjoy your stay

Hi, Thanks for the quick response. Initially she could not connect to the DSL system they have in the house she is staying, but after contacting Dell and Verizon, they had her do some things that got her connected. She does not always have a blue screen but it does come up quite often. I am thinking maybe the DSL doesn't like the USB wireless, and I should put in a wireless card instead? Or maybe tring a different USB port may help? The fact that it can sometimes go a day makes me think the DSL is dropping the connection, and it cannot reestablish itself, or is that way too easy a solution? I will post the exact Dell system information when I get home tonight. She would have no idea what to do PC wise as far as checking cards etc. We will be going down there this weekend to see her though.

Good Morning,
If this helps, the PC is a Dell Dimension 2400.

I would recommend putting in a PCI Wireless card, although it may not be the solution to your problem it will still eliminate variables... |

WUSB20xP.SYS -ADDRESS BA4511CF BASE AT BA40F000, DATESTAMP 3ffc825a | That'll be a driver crash, plain and simple.
Get the latest drivers for the device, or return it for one whose software actually does work. |

Hi Peter,
That will be great if that is all it is. This is an older USB device, and I know there is a newer piece of hardware out (Linksys Wireless G 2.4 WUSB54G). I have one at home and will swap it when we go and visit my daughter this weekend. I will post the results on the board over the weekend.

If the device is older, and particularly if you've used the driver disk that came with it, your first try should be newer drivers. |

Thanks for everyones ideas. The solution was really quite simple. I replaced the USB1.1 access device with a 2.0 one, and installed the proper drivers. Everything has been working well for quite some time now |
