USB going crazy ...

Hello

I have AMD 3700+ , 1GIG RAM , GIGABYTE K8NF9-ULTRA 939 board and 6800GS video card

recently my USB Microsoft Intellimouse Explorer mouse started to make some trouble

at random times the mouse stops reacting , u hear that sound of usb disconnecting and right away connecting and the mouse continues to work

i thought this is because of lack of power (i have 500W generic supply) but i have disconnected all the extra usb , FW ports and now i have only 4 onboard ports and this shit happenes all the time no matter what port i connect to

i've tried to install the new NFORCE4 drivers from nvidia and still ....

also thought its becuase of power management but i disabled it and still it happens !!!

PLEASE HELP ME !

Cordless or corded mouse? Maybe there's a short in the cord?

i have it about 5 years ...

do u think its the mouse ?

Yes, I'd guess it's the cord. Probably a wire broken in the cord causing intermittent contact.
