AGP texture accelerator not active notice from a game

I have a Dell Inspiron B130 laptop w/ a Windows XP OS. I just bought the game Rise Of Legends and can play the game w/o the texture accelerator, but it will skip from time to time while i'm playing (obviously it will do that online, i'm talking about not online). It seems to be doing it more and more as i play further and further into the game. i can support DirectX 9.0, and i know this b/c i downloaded it for Legend of Ares and Knight online. Where can i find the accelerator and how do i turn it on if i've got the option? If you need to know anything else tell me how to find it and i'll tell you what it is.

Welcome to TechIMO!

The Inspiron B130 has the Intel Media Accelerator 900 integrated graphics accelerator. As with most entry-level integrated graphics setups, do not expect much in the way of 3D rendering performance. It is not a matter of standards compliance, it is a matter of fillrate and bandwidth.

For starters, I suggest downloading and installing the lastest Intel GMA 900 graphics drivers. This should work:

Next up, you can try decreasing the resolution and graphics detail in your game to gain higher and smoother frame rates. You also need to exit any background applications during gameplay, such instant messaging and email clients.

i tried to dowload the driver and got an error message saying "The driver being installed is not validated for this computer. Please obtain the appropriate driver from the computer's manufacturer. Setup will exit."

That is odd, as the hardware ID string should be generic. Anyway, here is a link to the latest Dell branded Intel GMA 900 driver package:

it still says that the AGP texture acceleration's not on. i did download the driver from the link and still get the message. i think that the fact this i dont have the original hd might have something to do w/ this. bout a month after i got my laptop the hd crashed and neither dell nor I can figure out why, but since it was still under warranty they sent me a new one. i put it in, ran the setup programs again but it's not been exactly as it was when i first got it since i put the new hd in and did a "home installation" of my OS as well as my progs.

Given that you've got a budget/basic laptop, I doubt you'll be able to upgrade your laptop's graphics adapter. The good news is that the GMA900 graphics adapters are fairly decent for being a low cost on-board solution.

I think we need to find out why the updated drivers are rejected by your system. Did you uninstall the existing drivers before trying to install the updated ones?

Also try installing the latest Intel mobile chipset drivers for your laptop, avaliable on the Dell web page.
