Need Help ASAP - Need codec for video conversion????

It says this, and i've downloaded all kinds of codecs, etc, and NOTHING. I leave for a flight in 2 days, and I want to get these videos converted and onto my mp3 player.
Any help would be extremely helpful.it will make all the difference... and you know that.

Would be more informative to know the source video format and what you want to convert it to...

You need to figure out what CODEC is being used. As headband said, AVI is a "container" that can use any number of codecs. Open the file in windows media player, then go to file >> properties. It should tell you what audio and video codecs it uses. Post back here and let us know.

best advice is to check at videohelp.com those guys have loads of info most portable devices are starting to use .3gp files and the program 3gp coverter is by far one of the easiest to use.. you select the device and format then just drag and drop the file you want to convert.. as the guys here have stated though.. best thing to do is to ID what codecs the avi file is using that you're trying to convert.. i'd bet it's xvid using mp3 vbr as the audio codec and that's what's giving it a fit.. best thing for that is gui4ffmpeg covert it w/ it and it should play w/ out a problem
