on a Dell GX100...bios says its an 800 while XP Pro says it is a 600. Physically it is an 800 socket 370. thanks for any pushes in the right direction.
perhaps its throttling by its Intel Speed Step technology .. throttling means reduction of cpu core speeds which will result in cooler cpu temperature and lesser power consumption . your bios may have some information about this Speed Step tab ..
Right ... it might be one of those few P-III mobiles that can change speed on the fly. In any case, you should get low speed on battery, and full speed on AC.
I just went to control panel>performance and maintenance>system>general and it said 597 MHZ. CPUID shows it as a 600 as well. I will check speed setting in the AM. Thanks for the replies thus far.
