| Lost Display-Graphics card dead?
Ok, so I shut down my computer and opened it up just to show someome how to add in more RAM. I took it out and put it back in.
Now after hooking it back up, it doesn't want to display at all.
It's running a 6600GT (agp). Maybe it died? I tried putting in an old Radeon 7000, but that doesn't make the computer display either. Maybe the motherboard is fried...
I'm going to try to find a PCI card and see how that works.
Any ideas what might be the problem?
Thanks a lot,
-FMA

Take the memory out again, then firmly reseat into the slots. Odds are you have a got a stick of memory not fully seated.
BTW, you did ground yourself to the case when removing and installing the memory, right? Static electricity and memory modules do not mix. |

Yeah, I did. And I've already reseated the memory. Will a computer display without RAM? If not then I'll have to try using some other RAM later today, borrow some from a friend maybe.
Is it possible the AGP slot just died/the motherboard died from me taking out the RAM? Lets say static electicty did transfer when I touched the RAM, would that've went any further than killing the RAM?
Thanks,

Odds are nothing else would be affected. Try a different stick of memory. Even try different memory slots if available.
Before I forget, have you tried resetting the BIOS via motherboard jumper? |

Ah alright, I'll check it out. I've got more slots so I'll try that.
Hm, never thought about fixing the motherboard jumper. Why would that make a difference?
Thanks,

Resetting the BIOS is a good first-step procedure when troubleshooting a motherboard-related problem. |
