DVD Drive Problem

Hi there,

i've got a serious problem, my DVD Drive (a Samsung DVD rom SD 616T) is unable to read more than once a CD or DVD after that i have to reboot, i reinsert a new disc but it is unable to read it (altough i can hear the CD spinning and the reader moving) so it has to be a windows/driver problem, i tried pretty much everything, reinstalling, old drivers, new drivers, but still not working

i'm running Win XP 64 bit edition, and the DVD drive worked once, the problem is quite new

Open up your case, and make sure all the cables (IDE) are connected correctly (snug fit, nothing loose). I hope that this helped. Take Care.

I noticed SAMSUNG's website has a firmware update for your model CD/DVD-ROM (ver.f306). Unforetunately there no release note as to what the firmware update fixes. Might be worth a call to Samsung - asking what this update fixes or maybe give it a try.
