You can usually do a power cycle and press a reset button to restore factory settings. Check your manual.

Then just remember your password next time!

You can't recover your forgotten password. You can only reset the router to its factory default setting by pressing the reset on the back. Instructions for resetting the router & the factory user name / password are located in the manual.

What kind of router do you have? If its linksys its 192.168.1.1 and the username is blank and the password is admin. For D-Link its 192.168.0.1 and the username is admin and password is empty. You can go there and reset your router or change your password

    go to http://www.westell.com/pages/support/dropdown.jsp

You should be able to download the manual from there. It will tell you where the reset button is located.

Or you can call your service provider if that router is purchased/rented through them.

It varies from router to router. You need to download the manual to find out.

EDIT: I see you fixed it, nm.

Do a search on that model. There may be a reset option.

yeah on most netgear routers there is a reset button located on the back panel where all you network interfaces are use a ballpoint pen to push it in when powered up keep it pushed in untill all the lights start flashing as if powered up for the first time and hey presto one reset netgear router, (ive done it loads, will only use netgear) then your default username is ADMIN and default password is PASSWORD

mine is d-link router. It is not allowed to leave the password field blank. I can press reset buttom on the router to factory reset. The password is set by my brother. I don't want my brother to know that I changed the router password. How can I do? how can I know the current username and password to change the router setting without resetting the password?
Can my brother know all the traffic that is my browsing history through router setting? If it is so, is there any way to prevent my browsing history?
    Thanks in advance.
