Hi all,
With a maxed out HDD I decided to go ahead and upgrade to a new machine . ( 900 mz to 3.2 ) I used the Seagate diswizard to transfer the old C drive to the new. I went back on and booted with XP home disk and ran a repair. I'm up and running but have some funkyness. The XP is way out of data (per the MS web) and I get a no can do when I try to load service pact 2. I get a new hardware found on boot and I have no idea what it thnks it sees. I also get a yellow ? on device driver on "other devices with 8 unknown hardware ? underneath. The machine freezes when not even taxed, in fact I think it's slower than before even though I doubled the RAM to 1 GB and took the processor from 900 t0 3.2 Can anyone give me a hint on what to do. I have played with the bios but not able to gain any ground there. Suggetions? THe bios has something about shared memory so I max that out to see if that helped. My kid say on games is slower that before. Any way to verify the performance ? Helo! Phrogman |

Yes , all the drivers installed OK, witht eh exception of the AGP. If I just use the on the board video it's oK but if I use my old AGP card all in wonder radeon 128 then I get these errors. either option with video I still have poor performance |

Sounds like your best bet would be to start over with a fresh install of XP Home.

Repair installs can lead to problems, as you've encountered.
Back-up your data and heed the advice from Atomic Rooster!
Instead of transfering the data, why didnt you just use your new and old hard drives simaltaneously. That way, you would of had a fresh install on your new HD, and just used your old one to access your old files.
How big was your old HD and how big is your new HD?
