Have you tried following the directions on that page I linked to? They should get rid of that virus. At the bottom of the page are links to software that will remove the trojan also, to make it easier. Norton Antivirus McAfee VirusScan Trend Micro PC-Cillin
Also, I would not let that infected computer on the net until you get rid of that trojan

Don't forget AVG!
It's free and works great (better than trend or housecall) www.grisoft.com |

My sons had a couple of viruses and it infected mine over the network just sharing files that were not infected and even after I used Norton his outlook still isn't right and of course I formated mine seeing how his turned out but he's only 8 and has no use for e-mail so until then he's running on it. |

I did try AVG. That is the one I used but it didn't find it. I'm going to probably format. I'll just do that because I want to do it anyways....get my computer cleaned.....What will it hurt if I keep it on the internet though?? |

Leaving the computer connected to the net (talking cable/dsl here) while formatting is not a problem, I was talking about running that computer "as is" on the internet.
If it's still infected with the trojan, all your data on the computer could easily be comprimised if it's still on the internet.
Sorry about the confusion. |

I understood you perfectly. I was the one who confused him. Anyways I want to thank you all for your time and help but I just got done doing plan b. I formatted and even though I did it Thursday instead of Friday I did give thought into waiting to see if anyone else knew. I formatted yesturday but had major problems which are now fixed. I really REALLY do appreciate you guys helping me out. Formatting was just the best way though and it gave my computer a good scrub. I didn't reinstall the gearbox thing but called up my internet support and they told me how to do it. I forgot how to do a raw internet using Dial-Up networking because I haven't done that forever.
Someday I will ask for your help again and I hope that you will help me as much as you did here. |
