So I botted up my friends rig I just put together and had just installed a new heatsink/fan (Scythe Ninja), I get a CPU fan error on bootup, it says F1 to resume, is it okay to just resume, the fan is running on the heatsink I think its because it is a 3 pin connector and not a 4 pin. Anyway, is this a bad warning or is it okay? |

Its ok, but make sure your fan is running though and that its not overheating which I doubt =). |

Make sure that you have the CPU fan connected to the CPU fan connector on the motherboard.

The CPU_Fan connector on the mobo is 4 pin but my fan/heatsink for the cpu (Scythe Ninja) is 3 pin and is plugged into the PWR_Fan. I am still getting this error, should I plug the 3 pin connector into the 4 pin CPU_Fan connector on the mobo? |

You probably have the CPU fan in the Chassies fan connector. Although im guessing you already figured that out. Happened to me because of something i did wrong and it cooled it fine i think. If you leave it like that get some utillity to moniter your CPU temp and tell you when it approches to high. If you leave it like that just be careful.

it dosent matter that its 4 pin and the fan is 3. the 4th pin is just for fan speed control. so yes, stick it into the 4 pin one

If the fan is running you can just go disable the reading in your BIOS. There's an option under Cooling or something in your Motherboard settings. As long as it's running you're fine.
