Question
IPOD Shuffle prevents post???

System: (Not Overclocked)
Biostar M7NCD Ultra (latest BIOS installed)
Athlon XP 2400+ (266FSB)
(2) 512MB PC3200 (generic)
Dell 2405FPW
AIW 9800 Pro
Win2000 Pro

Short story:
Bought my wife an IPOD shuffle. It is plugged into one of the monitor's USB ports. The computer will not post if it is plugged in. Can't even get to the CMOS setup screen. Unplug it and computer boots fine. Once in Windows, plug it back in and everything works fine.

Not an end of the world problem, but why would having the IPOD shuffle plugged into a USB port prevent my computer from posting? Is there a CMOS setting I need to change?

Would like to leave it plugged in all the time because the base doubles as the charging jack for the IPOD.

Check the boot sequence in the BIOS, probably in the second line of the BIOS menu.

Look for USB in the boot sequence, or "seek another device", and set it to disable.

Just remember you did that when you want to boot from a USB device, so you can change the settings back.

That got it. Even though I had "boot device 1" as the hdd, and "boot device 2" as the cdrom. Had to disable "boot device 3" and "other boot device"

Thanks!
