Cannot install/update driver for my Radeon 9250 Graphics card.

I recently bought a Connect3D 92500 Radeon 256mb AGP graphics card to replace my Asus GeForce Ti 64mb one.
Here is a dxdiag of my system: link

The problem is that when i try to install the drivers from the CD that i got with the graphics card I get this message:

I have tried to do this in safe mode. And DxDiag says i am using a generic driver, I think thats the same as a standard driver.

I then tried to install drivers via device manager and i got this message:

Thank you in advance,

Hello,
Did you uninstall the driver for the old video card prior to taking it out? If not that's what the problem is. Put the old card back in, boot into Windows. Uninstall the Video Drivers, and shutdown the computer. Take out the old card, and put the new card in. After Booting into Windows install the new drivers, and everything should be good to go, if not post a new message detailing your problems. I hope that this helped. Take Care...Happy New Year.

How do i uninstall nvidia drivers? Do i have to press uninstall in device manegar. Because thats what i have been doing and i did do before taking out the nvidia in the first place.

I have been through add/remove and got rid of all of the omega drivers i had. Also when i searched of nvidia in regedit, i found loads of entries. I deleted most of them but some could not be deleted.

Thanks again for your help and Happy New Year.

Since i did uninstall the drivers prior to taking out the first card. I did what you suggested. And still access denied. I've got no idea what to do now.

Scrolling down in firefox/IE is a real pain it kinda does a wave refresh motion which is really annyoing. Also it says its in 1hertz which is confusing.

When it found new hardware (the ATI) the installation was a bit different, it could not verify the graphic card or something similar. Windows asked me whether i want to allow it and i did. It also asked me for some .sys file which it found on the driver CD.

Aslo windows wants me to reinstall the driver to fix everything, but it says access denied after copying a load of files.

Hello,
Try downloading, and installing the latest Drivers from AMD/ATI's website.
http://ati.amd.com/support/drivers/x...rer300-xp.html
Post another message if it works or not. Take Care, and Good Luck.

I'm still getting:

I think that when windows or ati try to install the new GFX card they get access denied when trying to edit the registry since there are still a few nvidia entries. I cannot edit them manully either.

-----

I've tried to put back to old card so i can look for a solution without the lag. I got this message:

The service database is locked

on the second attempt i got

Access Denied.

I think i might have to fresh install windows but I'm trying to fix it without that because 4 hours of live update and windows update dosen't sound very good.

See if Driver Cleaner helps you:
http://www.softpedia.com/get/Securit...-Cleaner.shtml

Im not sure if this would help: But you could try putting the old card back in, Go Start / Programs / Acessories / System Tools / System Restore and try going back to an earlier date when everything was stable.

Driver cleaner didn't help and system reastore wouldn't restore for some reason.

So i did a fresh install of windows and installed the GFX card in under 5 minutes.

I think my registery was locked or corrupt and windows couldn't edit it.

Thank you for your help.
