| router problem. need help bad!
im trying to forward some ports on my dlink 524 router. usually i access the router setup by putting in 162.168.0.1 in a browser, duh. that takes me to the router config page. but now it just takes me to my sbc yahoo modem connection page where i can see info on the system, specs, blah blah. but its not the dlink page that i need. connections fine, router is fine i just cant get into the router to forward the ports. is there an alternavive path i can take or whats the deal |

Sure its not 192.168.1.1?
Have you tried clearing the cache? Is JS off?
You can also unplug the power to the router and plug in back in.

You need to access using 192.168.0.1. How to Access the D-Link Configuration Screen
The D-Link is configured using a Web browser. After you have connected your computer to the D-Link router, follow these steps:
1. Launch your Web browser. Enter "http://192.168.0.1" into the address bar and press the "Enter" or "Return" key.
2. A logon pop-up screen will appear. Type "admin" for the username and leave the password field blank.
3. Click "OK". A D-Link configuration screen will appear. All changes to the D-Link configuration are made here. http://www.cruzio.com/support/docs/router_dlink524.html

| no its not the js or the wrong 192...number
im pretty cpu savvy so i tried using 1.1, 0.2 variations etc. but 192.198.0.1 works it just directs me to an sbc connection manager and settings page instead of the routers config page. |

Have you setup the modem to act as a bridge? |

| hmm ok well u got me there
ok so im not the most savvy so asume i need a brief explan on things. im not sure if its a bridge but it looks like it. but the sbc menu it gives me offers no router info at all. like "router setup" advanced settings" etc. again, i used to get into it fine. then i had router trouble and needed to reset it and did some bs. so now its working fine i just cant access the config page to forward ports |

I've only setup a router with SBC once so I don't remember exactly how to tell you to do it but go into the modem setup and somewhere in there is the option to set the modem as a bridge. Once that is done you should be able to access the router. You will need to enter your user name and password into the router to access the internet. |

This may be a dumb question, but if you're having trouble getting to your router because the IP may have been changed, why don't you just hit the reset on the back?? Most routers have them. If it's more of an issue that the same IP goes to both the router and modem cuz they each have the same IP address(I dont see how they could and still work), then just disconnect and/or power down the modem and try the 192.... IP again. |
