| New install won't detect dvd drive when loading Nero
Hi all,
I'm installing a new system, and this mobo's got some quirks Foxconn 6100K8MA-RS
First, the serial HDD shows up in the system tray as a removable drive. Second, the NEC OEM dvd burner (Newegg for all parts) won't be detected by Nero (two different versions); after install, only option is for burning an image...no dvd/cd drive!
I've tried switching jumper to CS for the dvd, but no dice. Putting ide cable in ide1, then ide 2, same results.
Ideas would be appreciated.

Have you verified the SATA/IDE controller setup in the BIOS configuration? If not, that would be a good place to start IMO. |

Was just revisiting that now, Rob. Phoenix-Award bios, ide function setup nchip ide 0 enabled, onchip ide 1 enabled, serial ata 1 enabled. (Is this what you mean?)
This is my first serial install, and on this quirky mobo... |

All controllers are enabled.
Next, have you have verified the hardware jumpers on the drives? |

No jumpers on the serial drive (160 gb Hitachi), and have tried both master and cs on the dvd burner, and tried both ide 0 and 1. |

Nero has a util called Nero InfoTool which will ans this question. There's a comparable menu pick built into the full Nero Burning Rom app.
Are you using the sware that came w/ the drive or pos, sware that you'd prev installed and used prior to the new burner ? If the latter, then you can figure that out. If the former, then try d/l'g newer, trial sware from nero.com....Jet |

Good call, Jet. Upon furthur review, this dvd drive seems to have issues playing nice with Nero.
You can check out some user comments here: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16827152076
I had to give up the build, so I just put in an extra drive until I can RMA this sucker. I may install it on another system to see if it works with that mobo. I'll check out that Infotool as well.
Thanks for the responses, guys. |
