XP Home No Audio Device installed

Hi,

I posted elsewhere (http://www.techimo.com/forum/showthr...t=181515)about my problems with this machine earlier today.

The machine itself seems to be running ok now, activated XP Home online, done all the updates loaded a few programs and then discovered that it hasn't got any sound.

It only has a set of speakers plugged into the socket on the Mobo.

How can I overcome this, When I go to Control Panel Audio Devices etc it says nothing is installed so I am kinda stuffed.

Any solutions guys and gals?

You should see something listed under "sound,video, game controllers" under device manager. If you don't I suspect you will need to load the drivers for either the mobo sound chipset or the stand alone card you have. I have yet to see any kind of sound that was already on/in the box not work after a fresh install of XP. YES, stranger things have happened, just quoting my experience. Do you see a volume control in your system tray?

Hi,

Good one, I was in such a hurry to get this up and done before my daughter got home I only installed some of the Mobo drivers.

I downloaded them individually off the Mobo makers website and stuck them in a folder, I must have just bypassed the audio one in my rush to get done.
