Well I tried the windows vista beta, just to see what all the new features was like but then I couldn't play any of my pc games and it became a bit of a problem. So then I wanted to install my windows xp back on my computer. And right before it gets to the Agreement page in the XP setup (Where you agree with F8). I will get the blue screen of death. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Image:W..._2000_BSoD.png
that's the exact screen I will get before windows can even get to the agreement in the setup.
1. I tried formating, since windows vista only allows me to format. As well as use killdisk. Both didnt help the problem.
2. I bought a new hard drive and tried to install my windows xp on it, same error happened as well. with the blue screen of death at the same exact place.
So now I'm stuck with this vista beta version and can't get my windows xp back on my computer and I been trying for about two to three days now.
May someone please help me so I can get back to my computer gaming.
Thank you for you generosity,
Troy |

Hi T_PAIN. Welcome to TechIMO.
What are your system spec's? Is this a prebuilt or a custom built pc?
If you are using a SATA hard drive did you install the SATA drivers at the beginning of the XP install?

It's pre - built PC.
And I have SATA. See heres, the problem. You know how it locates the drivers and other hardware in the beginning before Agreeing to the terms. Well that's how far the setup goes before it gets the blue screen of death.
heres my pc specs. http://reviews.cnet.com/HP_Pavilion_...0.html?tag=sub

Have you formatted the disk before going back to XP Home/Pro? May need to run killdisk on it.
Side note...reaffirms my choice to not get Vista for about 2 years |

You might need to install via using the F6 method: http://hytek9.wordpress.com/2006/12/...-a-sata-drive/
I would also zero out your hard drive to prevent the XP installation from getting all confused with an operating system it never has heard of. |
