| Memory configuration
There are total of 4 sticks 1GB each (dual channel configuration)
I guess I can take them out one by one and run the test |

| Bad memory identified
All 4 sticks are exactly the same from the same batch and ordered at the same time (about a month ago).
Please see the attached for details. Three of them passed and one failed. However with that said even when the faulty one is removed it did not effect the shut down behaviour.
I even tried running with one stick at a time and shutdown behaviour did not change. I guess memory issue was one the side and probably would not have been detected if Shutdown problem did not occur.
So boys and girls what do you suggest now Following is the Error log from VISTA for Memory failure: </System>

Have you manually increased the ram voltage in BIOS to Crucial's spec? I know Ballastix usually don't run at 1.8v.
A screenie of CPUz with the Memory tab and SPD tab might be helpful.

| Solved Vista Shut Down Problem Quote:

ASUS did not have an upto date driver for the CHIPSET so I downloaded the latest one from NVIDIA (nforce_680i_sli_winvista32_15.00_english_whql).
All now OK and shut down problem is now resolved.
In the process I discovered the memory issue which I shall take up with the vendor. Another Thing:
My 2nd raid configuration (2x 120GB running in Mirror) is now showing as two seperate drives after updating the Chipset driver. Not sure how to reconfigure it back to mirror each other. I all open a new thread for that.
Thanks Again. |

No problem, glad it worked,
nvidia will have the updated drivers first,
they develop them so they will post them first,
sometimes, |
