Hi ya. Hopefully someone can help. I have a k7sv266m MB, with an AMD Athlon xp2400, 1Gb ddr ram, 450 watt power supply. Was looking into getting a new AGP card for my system, but not sure what would be the right choice. I currently have an ATI Radeon 9200 128MB, would like to upgrade to 512MB. Just need to know if this is possible on this system & if not what would be the best card for me. I was looking at the Sapphire x1650 PRO 512mb agp but not sure if this is a good card or even if it would work on my PC. So any help is much appreciated. Thanks |

the best card for AGP with ATI chip now is the X850 Radeon model. some say 1600 series is slow. Sapphire is a good make there. the X1650 is 512mb but 512s not always good if you game. |

thank you for your help and such quick response. I have another question. I was in the bios and saw that the highest aperture size was 256mb I'm assuming this is the maximum size of a card that this board will allow correct? |

Yes, you are correct! For that same price you could get this card. I know this is a good card. Or, you could go this route if you like ATI more then Nvidia.
Good luck |

The AGP Aperature size has nothing to to with the size of video you can run. It is the amount of system memory the card will use will use once it's on-board memory is used up. Read more: What is AGP Aperture size?.
The 7600GT is a kick-ass little card. What's your budget for a new video card?

You wouldnt want to get a 512MB card. Most 512MB cards run even, or actually slower than their 256MB counterpart.
The x1950Pro is one of the best AGP cards.
But looking at your current setup, it would be overkill, because your CPU becomes a bottleneck.
Depending on your budget the 7600GT or x1650Pro are the best cards you should be looking at.
Some cheaper alternatives are the 7600GS, 6800XT, and the 6600GT. |
