    Drivers

I bough a Compaq Presario SR2150NX 2 days ago and it came with Windows Vista already installed. I uninstalled Vista and installed Win XP Pro. As I didn't have sound on my computer, I looked in the Panel Control (Device Manager) and I'm missing driver for:

    1- SM Bus Controller
    2- USB Bus Controller
3- PCI Controller for Simplified Comunications
    4- Video Compatible VGS Controller
    5- PCI Device

I called HP, can you believe that they answered that I bought the computer with Windows Vista and that they don't support Win XP anymore. The y told me that the only solution is to get back to Vista, Incredible!

    Anyone has suggestions.

    Thanks
    Germain

    I would expect that.

From HP's site it looks like you have Realtek Audio. You'll notice it lists all the manufacturer's components, so you'll have to go to each site for XP drivers.

I bought one with no OS recently off of C C. I had to get some of the drivers from Windows update by sellecting custom and then selecting hardware.
The audio driver I had to go to the manufacturer

Thanx for your replay. I'm going to buy a $20 soundcard. Hope that works.

Thanx, but I found the drivers for the video, and I got a sound card, so everything is working good now.

You can use ALC883 or ALC888 CODEC audio driver. You can download it from the link above:

You can download the WDM_R127.exe file given in the link for the audio driver
