| reboot and select proper boot device, or insert boot media in selected boot device.
hi, i recently posted on my hard drive.. and thanks for your help, i found out i needed to RMA it, but for now im running a 40 gb spare hard drive. it's been working for a couple weeks, no problems, and today i was playing cs:s, and all of the sudden it freezes and i hear the annoying repeating sounds of what was going on as it froze.. very annoying. anyways, i dont know why it froze.. but i tried to alt tab, tried to ctrl alt delete, but it wouldnt budge, so i just restarted. come to find out, when i try coming back in, i get the "reboot and select proper boot device, or insert boot media in selected boot device." .. problem. i really dont know what to do.. i inserted vista and it makes it seem like i never installed vista, because i cant use the repair my computer option, and i didnt want to go any further on the install process. it detects my hard drive, and my dvd drive.. and the boot sequences have never been a problem, and the fact i had a cd in has never been a problem either, and of course i have tried it without a cd in. also, the first time it started doing it, it wasnt recognizing my hard drive. now that i just turned it off for a while, it recognizes it.. but i stil get the error. please help |

well, i used a spare dell hard drive, and it works. but, when i replugged the 40 gb back in using the "slave" side i guess its called (the middle ribbon plug), because the first one has some sort of little cut, very tiny, but i think it might make a difference. plugged in as the slave, its not recognized at all, plugged in as the master its recognized, but sticks on a black screen with a flashing _ at the top, THEN goes to the error. both ways goes to the error. when i get home from cross country im going to use a different .. ribbon cable, i guess its called, and see if that works. any help would be nice |
