Have you tried to start up into safe mode? Not sure if that would do anything, but you may give it a shot.. |

Have you made any changes to your system in the last week or two?
Updated drivers or anything, changed hardware at all?
Please post your system specs, that may help with some suggestions..
Also, run Memtest86+, see what that says...
Off the top of my head it sounds like failing ram... |

I've had that problem a couple of years ago and ended up taking my comp to CompUsa for repairs. The problem was failing RAM for me. I had to replace both of them and they were Kingston brand too which surprised me. |

Well there is your first problem. Your letting compusa fix your computer. They suck!!
My brother has a sony from there. He has taken it in 5 times for repair. And everytime they "fix" it, it comes back to them with another problem. I would never use compusa to fix anything..
Did you run Memtest?
I would still do that, and see what it tells you.. |

After Memtest, if the RAM is good you can also try to test the hard drive with the manufacturer diagnostic tool so that you can at least make sure that the HD is in good working condition. |

Hi guys thanks for replies so far heres the situation as it stands now:
Ive tried memtest and that came up with no errors after 18 hours of running.
At which point i decided that since the 2 sticks of RAM i had in my system were farely new (within 4 weeks) i would try to switch them out one at a time to see if only one had failed that consequently didnt work either.
So i switched the two sticks that were in there out for my older RAM and the system still does the same thing so any ideas?
Cheers again
LoG
EDIT: oops just read the previous reply and im testing the HD as i post this message. |
