CD Drive ejecting

Hi guys,

I'm running Windows XP on a pretty old Gateway PC, all has been fine for ages until yesterday when the CD drive just started to automatically eject CDs whenever I insert them. I haven't installed any new software or anything like that, so I just can't understand why it's suddenly started to do this!

The little light next to the CD drive flashes a couple of times after I put the CD in, but then it just spits it back out. I've tried using different CDs, cleaning the CDs, disabling the CD drive and re-enabling it, but nothing seems to have solved it.

Any ideas?

Thanks alot.

Are you running any packet writing software, such as Roxio Drag-to-disc, Sonic DLA or Nero InCD?

Nah, it closes fine when I press the button - it just ejects straightaway.
