Nvidia graphics card driver update

Hi

Just curious as Im pretty new to this but...I checked on the nvidia website for graphics card and mobo driver updates and it told me to download and install latest drivers for my mobo. i did this but when i run the test again it tells me I have to install the same drivers I just installed? So i looked a bit further and used an driver update utility and it told me i had a number of out of date drivers, mainly nvidia. After a lot of downloading drivers, losing my ether net connection Im beginning to wonder if having the latest drivers is worth it and I have 4 nvidia driver programs which allegedly i need to install-each installs a different driver for something else meaning im going round in circles here. So how important is it to have the latest drivers and how on earth do i find them from all these downloads?

In theory, the updates should tell you what they are updating/issues being fixed. If you don't have the issues......In other words, if it ain't broke - don't fix it.

sounds good to me-just me being anally retentive trying to get the mostest up to datest drivers for everything lol. I will leave it be

regarding how to obtain drivers.. IMO, don't use a wizard/tester or a "driver download" website or anything like that. Especially for anything nvidia, as they have a "Download Drivers" link directly accesible on their homepage. just determine the exact model of hardware that you have (like geforce 7600 GT or whatever) and visit the manufacturers website directly to download the drivers they have available. just make sure to select the one that matches your operating system (e.g. device/hardware manufacturers tend to have ones specific for the 64-bit versions of windows, and separate ones for newer operating systems like vista).
basically, just check the manufacturer's website for each piece of hardware directly.
