Voice message on startup

os is Windows XP SP2
mb is Asus A7n8X2.0

I had recently a checksum error on start up and replaced the motherboard battery

the system is working fine (as far as I can tell) but when the computer starts up or restarts I get an Award flash utility screen for a few seconds
then a female voice telling me that the system is going to start the operating system

can anyone tell me how to get rid of this please

thank you

You need to go into the bios, i believe its the advance settings, and the speech reporting. From there you can disable the obnoxious female computer voice

Well she is the 'Mother Board'.

That's actually pretty cool, I haven't heard that before.

I believe all new asus motherboards have this function, i know some other companies have incorporated this into their own boards too.

Its stupid.

It is a feature some Asus Motherboard have, specially their premium line.... I have the same model as him on my AMD 2500..

Instead of beep codes you get this woman voice....

As groundzero pointed out it can be disabled in the bios..

My bro has a new Asus board. I'll have to see if it has this.

Mother 'Board' voice problem

Thank you very much for all your help

the advice was spot on - it is in the Advanced section and I disabled her
(she is now gnashing her teeth somewhere in the bottom of my computer)

what a joy

thanks too for the mother 'board' bit - lifted my mood

cheers
