I'll assume you've installed XP, though you didn't mention your motherboard model no: either.
Also How did you remove Vista?
If you have a copy of XP boot from the cd and go into the recovery console(by pressing R), once in there you can type "Help" for a list of commands, the command your looking for is FIXMBR, this will set your Memory Boot Record back to boot a single OS(namely XP). Looks like you have a bootmanager installed that isn't correctly locating your Boot.ini file or other associated files the OS needs to start up.
I'm not sure how Vista handles the boot process so maybe that's screwed with the MBR but if your trying to multiboot the order in which you install each OS is very important.
