Sony Vaio Won't boot up advice please?

Hi
I have a sony Vaio PCG-GRX316MP and it wont boot up.
The Green power light comes on, and the battery light comes on and if i disconect the battery and just run it using the power supply the light comes on the laptop for that aswell.
The Laptop starts as i can hear the hard drive making a sound but the laptop will just not even come on to the boot up part. Is has come on once or twice in the last couple of days but thats it to be honest and then is just shuts down again and now i can't get it to boot up anymore.
Basically i can't do nothing with it i can't even get into the bios. It is possible it could be stuck on standby or hibernate but im not sure to be honest.

Any advice would be great thanks.

My dad had a laptop in the same GRX series, and from what you've written above, his also had the same problem. He rang Sony up and they said its motherboard needed a replacement.

Does anything come on the screen at all? What are it's specs? How long have you had it for?

Well i have had it for a bout 6 months now. When is does start which is not often it runs perfect for about 30 mins then just goes off.
But it has never booted up for about 3 days now so the screen just stays black.
Like i say i can hear the hard drive boot for about 30 seconds but thats all.
