Not all my Automatic Updates are Going it.

I have XP 2, and It keeps downloading and saying it can't install the updates.

Ideas?

hi there

i ran into this a while ago. Try this, it has worked for me a few times now.

enter and run these lines one at a time

REGSVR32 WUAUENG1.DLL
REGSVR32 ATL.DLL
REGSVR32 WUPS2.DLL
REGSVR32 WUCLTUI.DLL
REGSVR32 WUPS.DLL
REGSVR32 WUWEB.DLL
REGSVR32 WUAUENG.DLL

after you run each line you should get a box to tell you that it was successful....

then try the install again

Do I run these on the Run/CMD line?


Jason it says "Updates are ready for your computer"

I uninstalled Win installer 3.1, and now it won't reinstall

So I do the "express install" and it comes back up and says it was unsuccessful.

I wonder if it might install on a restart... hmmm

Update I downloaded another Win Installer 3.1 from Microsoft. We'll see if this improves the auto updates.
Nope. 78 out of 78 didn't install.

I did all of these:

pen a run command and try to Re-register these DLLs for the update Engine:

net stop wuauserv click [OK]

regsvr32 wuapi.dll click [OK]

regsvr32 wuweb.dll click [OK]

regsvr32 atl.dll click [OK]

regsvr32 wups2.dll click [OK]

regsvr32 wuaueng1.dll click [OK]

regsvr32 wups.dll click [OK]

regsvr32 MSXML3.dll click [OK]

regsvr32 wucltui.dll click [OK]

regsvr32 wuaueng.dll click [OK]

net start wuauserv click [OK]

Then Reboot your machine and try the Updates.

I might be gone for awhile...

It worked, So far. I blue screened on start up, but second go around was ok. This build seems to blue screen on nearly every change anyway.
