Malware bs - help?
I ran Adware on it, and cleared all cookies, etc, but it changed my clock, and kept adding icons. Anyways, how do I make sure it's gone, and how do I change the clock back?
it will make all the difference... and you know that.

Just double click the time and a window will pop up where you can reset the correct time. I would also suggest running Spybot - Search & Destroy. It tends to pick up what Ad-Aware misses. Maybe even run CCleaner to clean up the registry from any leftover bits.
Unofficial TechIMO record holder for the number of times being added and removed from beemer's ignore list.

My computer is slowing even more now, Idk wtf to do.
I tried to do system restore, but it froze when I clicked restore.
I did AVG, but when I went to apply actions to delete, it freezes.
When I'm typing ANYTHING, the window goes away, so right now, I have to keep clicking the webpage every 10 seconds to continue typing.
What do I do?it will make all the difference... and you know that.

I hope this isn't the computer that is being sold. If it is I would use darik's boot and nuke and reinstall the OS.
If you had avast you can do a boot time scan. I have a felling its too late as explorer seems messed up now. AVG sure got that one...
Then again it may be hardware. The time problem could be the BIOS.Last edited by Keymaker; November 2nd, 2007 at 04:57 PM. Reason: because I can

I did a system restore and everything seems to be working alright. The windows even updated itself, which it would never do. Lol. Anyways, I'm pretty sure it's okay now.......

I Highly doubt that...
System restore may have made windows more functional, and it may have undone some of the damage, but it certainly didnt remove the initial cause...
I would run multiple scans from safe-mode, and turn OFF system restore...
The following is a good way to clean your system more thoroughly and speed it up to boot...
Start by turning off System Restore...
To turn off system Restore, simply right click on the "My Computer" icon on your desktop, and choose "properties"
Click the "system restore" tab and check the box that says turn off system restore"
Click "Apply" and then OK, You can always turn it back on later when your sure the system is clean, by reversing the procedure
The reason you should turn it off, is because many of the nastier Trojans and spyware insinuate themselves into the system restore points and reinsert themselves after you've gotten rid of them
Run C-Cleaner
If you don't already have them...
Use Spybot, Adaware, and AVG AntiSpyware as well
Update all the Spyware removers...
Then reboot in safe mode and run the scans from there...
Then run C-Cleaner again and don't forget to scan for issues to clean the registry...
After you gotten rid of the majority of Spyware, run HijackThis and use THIS link to scan your findings and remove anything it finds suspicious..
I suggest re-tweaking all the settings by using XPSmoker and TuneXP
Then Defragment
Remember to run msconfig and turn off anything but Antivirus and AVG antispyware......

I don't see how "tweaking" your computer helps, but okay. In fact, certain "tweaking" around can have side effects. Especially using more than one program to do so. As one setting can negate the other. All they do is jack around with the registry.

Crap cleaner does exactly what its name is. IE; cleans crap. Although, after removing any malware or adware there may be registry entries left behind which CCleaaer can hopefully find and delete.
Restore may have replaced the settings and/or drivers that were messed up from before.
