Sorry, guys, I may have missed something.

What OS are you using?

If non of the hardware works, how do you know the OS works?

Well wether or not the o/s works which i know it does, usualy wouldn't cause the hardware to go down?
I'm on win XP pro on 80 gig, and win me on 60 gig...i allways booted into win XP and just used the 60 gig to store stuff so not to cram my 80 gig.

Thanks sweeper mate....i will try that as i now have to go out and buy a new processor and a stick of ram!.....so dont fancy buying new optical drives and spending even more!

Now i get a blue screen telling me that the pc will shut down to prevent further damage....and tells me i can run chk/dsk etc.....and i had to go into a boot menu and tell it to stop restarting so i could read the message.....otherwise it just keeps restarting!
Funny enough i can get it to boot up my other h/d which has crappy old M/E on it.......thats just for storage......what do i need to do to get past this blue screen so it can start up in win XP?

How can the original problem have possibly corrupted the hard drive if that is the problem? Allso my cdrw drive has a permanent green light on....the tray still does not open what so ever, and my other dvd rom just flashes green light once on start up, and thats it, and that don't open neither!
Help!

sounds like your original problem could be jumper settings or your motherboard having a problem. If your HD is now having errors sounds like its something in the chain. Replace the IDE cable and see if you can get in. Since there are already errors, run the chk dsk just in case. Download some HD diagnostic tools from the manufacturer and see if there is anything wrong with it.

At this point your drive might be toast though, format and start over type approach.
