Gateway 610 keeps cutting off (kind of)

    Hello,

I'm having issues w/ my 610 and thought you may be able to tell me if this sounds like the psu. In the beginning my issue was the bottom half of the screen was darker than the top half. I assumed it was the LCD inverter, but wanted to test it to be sure. So I disassembled it w/ Onder's instructions, switched the inverters & sure enough the top went darker. So I put it back together, & decided I would order the inverter when I got the extra money. It worked fine Sat, Sun, and yesterday until I put my daughter's video game in. I all of sudden heard like a pop
(like the sound it makes if you turn off the pc w/ the power button, almost like static, It always does this when I turn the pc off w/ the power button). The screen was black & I looked on top. The green power light was on, but the blue one wasn't & the pc wasn't responding. So I held down the power button to turn it off. I opened the back to check all of the wires in the case where the psu is, and everything looked fine. So I put it all back together again. The pc works, but if I move it just a little it cuts off again. Any ideas? Do you think I did something to it when I opened it? Would it do this if I left the inverter loose or something? Or does it sound like the psu? Any feedback would be greatly appreciated.

    Thanks!
    Crystal
