Talk about some POS.
Specs:
Power Color ATI Radeon VE 32MB DDR
MSI K7T266 Pro2-RU
AMD Duron 1.3 GHz
WD 40GB 7200rpm
USR Vader56k
SMC EZ Card 10/100 WOL
Installing Windows XP Home
So here is what happens:
At first when installing XP it shuts the monitor off so I can't see anything, and setup stalls.
Then it installed, but the video was horrible. Red junk everywhere. New drivers did nothing. Installed the Via 4-in-1's and the computer could never boot again. Last Known profile wouldn't fix it. Reformatting and reinstalling wouldn't fix it. It wouldn't even make it through setup. Shutting the monitor and hard drive (I can hear it spin down) when at the detecting devices part. I now cannot get past this part.
Get this: The video card, motherboard, NIC and modem are all Windows XP LOGO certified.
So what's going wrong? I think it may be a bad video card but I'll have to try another ne later today.
TIA for any help you maye provide.

Ok I forgive Windows XP. It was the video card. I got a familiar "comma screen" which I had just recently figured otu what was casuing it with Win2k... and now I realize it was the same thign with Windows XP... Windows XP was far worse in dealing with it however. At least Win2k gives you stop errors you can look up and try to figure out what's casuing them...
XP just reboots. ARGH! |

Did you have a defective card or what? What happened?
I'm going to try this card in another computer adn see what happens.. If it fails in that one then RMA time... arghh I hate RMA'ing.. such a waste of my time. |

Why is winXP doing this??
I install with another vid card. No prob. I swap the videoc ard.. no prob. Boot up no prob. Get into windows no prob. Works fine until WinXP tries to install a driver for the card. Then I get wierd red lines everywhere. I install the drivers off of the disk and boom... no boot. Can't even go to last known good RIGHT after the faulty boot. Stupid.
If WinXP leftt eh drivers alone there wouldn't be this problem! |

Look at it... ugh... that's on a 19" Sony G400 and the Camera is a Sony DSC-S70 3.1 Mega Pixel... neither of those had any effect on the quality of the output, nor did the JPG compression.
What you see is what I see here.
Horrible. Tried downloaded drivers, cd drivers, omega drivers, ANYTHING and nothing works.
Oh BTW if I leave it in it's restarting cycle it eventually gets into windows (or at least it did) with that crazy red screen crap.
RMA time I guess... |
