Vaio Vista Networking Drivers

Hi,

I have a Sony Vaio VGN-770G laptop with Windows Vista Ultimate installed (i945GM chipset). I received this computer with Ultimate installed and the wireless working. However, I recently formatted the hard drive and cannot get the wireless to work.

I've tried Sony's drivers for both XP MCE and Vista HP; and Intel's chipset drivers.

Here's the PCI Hardware ID's
Vendor ID: 8086 (Intel)
Device ID: 4229 (PRO/Wireless 4965 AG)

Network works plugged in with cable, but the wireless 'Network Controller' shows up in device manager saying no driver installed.

Thanks in advance.

The chipset drivers should have been installed first, right after the OS. They allow the OS to properly recognize your system hardware, without which some components may not install correctly.

In your link, I see an Intel Pro wireless driver. Did you try that?

I did install the chipset drivers first, though I listed it last. But do you think because it only says 'Network Controller' and not the actual name, the chipset drivers didn't work?

And yes, I've tried that "Intel Pro Wireless Driver" you mentioned.

I never did get this network driver to work in vista, so I gave up. Now, a few weeks later, I installed XP. However, I still can't get the network driver to install....... Audio, camera, and everything else works from the sony website, but still no wireless....

Thoughts?
